Evaluation of Corrosion Behavior of Tantalum in Sodium Hydroxide Solution

Abstract

It is assumed that sodium hydroxide (NaOH) will be used during cleaning spent fuel reprocessing equipment. We have conducted corrosion tests of Ta, which is one of the strucural materials, in NaOH solution and clarified the relationship between the NaOH concentration and the amount of corrosion, as well as the corrosion inhibition mechanism by the corrosion inhibiting film formed.
