Evaluation of Corrosion Behavior of Stainless Steel in Nitric Acid Solution containing Radionuclides

Abstract

In order to evaluate the corrosion of stainless steel in spent nuclear fuel reprocessing solution facilities, immersion tests and polarization measurements of R-SUS304ULC stainless steel in nitric acid solutions containing neptunium-237, a radionuclide, were conducted. We have clarified the difference from that in pure nitric acid solution and discussed the possibility of calculating the corrosion amount from electrochemical measurements.
